AmPro Yamaha Team, John Penton GNCC Rd 9

Last weekend the AmPro Yamaha team hit the Sunday Creek Raceway for the Wiseco John Penton GNCC in Millfield Ohio. The John Penton race is one of the longest standing GNCCs, named after the man who originally imported the KTM motorcycle from Austria into the United States. John made so many improvements for the machines that they were even called ‘Pentons’ back then.

The popular motocross track has a lot of fast, flowing trails. There’s a good mix of tight spots and wide open corners, plus a few simple jumps and a nice step-up. This place can be bone-dry and dusty, or covered in slick clay and sticky mud that clings to your machine. Today was hot and humid but it had rained substantially a couple days before.

The AmPro Yamaha team raced hard and they were able to maintain their points positions heading into summer break. Ricky Russell is 4th in the Overall National Championship standings. Josh Toth landed 2nd place on XC2 250 Pro podium for Round 9, keeping 5th place Overall, and 1st place in the XC2 250 Pro Series standings.
