Look what’s new in Antigravity Batteries’ garage!! Needless to say we’re ecstatic about our GT3 RS… but we’re also excited to be developing a few new products to compliment our recently released RS-30 Lithium Car Battery. This, of course, was the first upgrade bestowed upon our beloved Porsche. We designed a custom battery tray to make it a perfect drop-in fit, and will soon offer Drop-In Mounting Kits to allow our RS-30 to fit most all Hi-Performance Street and Race Cars… from Porsches, Vipers, and Corvettes, to Mustangs, Camaros, and for all others who want have better starting performance from their sports car, muscle car, or pony car.
The RS-30
By replacing the heavy OEM lead/acid battery with our hyper lightweight RS-30 we immediately shed over 35 pounds, resulting in several performance benefits. The extreme weight savings allows for improved acceleration, shorter braking distances and even better gas mileage. In our Porsche the battery sits fairly central and rather high, and since using our lighter lithium battery there are other noticeable improvements in the car’s handling such as when cornering. As for power, the RS-30’s high Cranking Amps (1200A) gives us better starting, and has great capacity to match (50Ah Pb Eq). Its built-in Battery Management System (BMS) will keep it in excellent condition for the longest life possible. For example if it senses over-discharge the RS-30 protects itself by going into a sleep mode, retaining enough energy to allow you to restart your vehicle by simply pushing a button on top of the battery. Drop-In Mounting Kits
The high power, lightweight RS-30 battery is also very compact, with a smaller footprint than the original lead/acid battery found in your hi-performance car. So to make the RS-30 a quick & easy battery swap anyone can do by hand, we will soon offer a line of low-profile Mounting Kits for a drop-in solution that fits your vehicle.
We developed a footer plate that simply screws onto the bottom of our lithium RS-30 battery, then becomes a direct swap for the OEM lead/acid version. You just remove the old battery, put in the RS-30 and tighten down at the bottom of its battery tray. Easier than changing out a lead/acid battery because the RS-30 only weighs 12 lbs compared to the ~45 pounds of the original battery. We’ll soon have a video to demonstrate the RS-30 installation.
The mounting tray is a strong yet lightweight Aluminum design. The kit will also include a top bar, which in daily driver use won’t really be necessary since the bottom plate is securely fastened to the RS-30 from below. However some race series rules require a metal hold-down going over the top of the battery, or if you track you would want to have a hold-down like this.
Energize
Additionally, for the Porsche drivers out there, you can be worry-free from a dead battery and locked hood scenario. Say you did over-discharge the lead/acid battery and need to recharge or jump-start it, or maybe you upgraded to the lithium RS-30 battery and need to use its RE-START button… how would you quickly be able to open the hood to access your battery?
We are currently working on a product that would allow you to energize your Porsche enough to pop its frunk without having to energize the system by going to the red bus bar on the fuse panel. We are developing a product that you put into the charger port to energize the system enough to pop the trunk latch and access the battery. NO need to wait for the charger to power up the battery, but more importantly you won’t have to be near an electrical source.
