King of the Hammers Desert Race 2017

Thanks everyone who stopped by our booth this past weekend to rev up for the 11th annual King of the Hammers (KOH) race!

KOH is the ultimate desert race, known as the toughest one-day off-road race in the world. It combines desert racing and rock crawling, and has grown from being a one race event to being a series of 5 held throughout the week. It ends with the actual King of The Hammers race, followed by awards the next day. Now with its number of competitors (more than 400) and spectators (tens of thousands!) the KOH is the largest off-road race event in North America.

People from ~40 states and 4 countries gather in Johnson Valley, CA, where for 9 days the Means Dry Lake bed becomes what they call “Hammertown”. There is a new race each day: dirt bikes, quads, UTVs and more. Vehicles are Ultra4 class and custom fabricated by each team.

The 215-mile race is so extreme with rocky slopes and huge boulders, that only the best off-roaders even attempt the competition. A third of the vehicles won’t make it out of the second lap, when the trails really start getting gnarly.

UPDATE 2/11/17: Congratulations to Shannon Campbell, the official winner of the 2017 KOH race! Shannon is the FIRST three-time King! He also won in 2008 and 2011.
