Congratulations to our sponsored team Purvines DA8 Racing and rider Gary Sutherlin for taking home the 2017 MC Pro WORCS Championship at the final round this past weekend in Adelanto California!
Sutherlin got off to a quick start this season, scoring two victories and three runner-up finishes in the first five races. He backed that up with two more podiums to score the 2017 title (his second) in his first year on the Purvines Yamaha. He finished 5th in this final round 11 race but that was more than enough to claim victory as the new WORCS Champion.
“Ron Purvines stepped up this year and gave me a great opportunity,” said Sutherlin. “We really put Yamaha on the map this year. They haven’t really been anywhere on the West Coast for the last 10 years. To win a championship for them and for Ron is huge. We’re looking for big things from Yamaha next year.”
Gary Sutherlin is now leading the Hare and Hounds points race with two races left. He is looking to become just the second rider to win both the WORCS and Hare and Hounds championships in the same season. “I’m 32 points up with two rounds to go,” said Sutherlin. “That would be huge because the last person to win both the WORCS and Hare and Hound in the same season was Kurt Caselli. So those are big shoes to fill.”
