Last weekend SXS Pro champion Ryan Piplic headed to the great high desert of Eastern Nevada for the BITD (Best in the Desert) Silver State race, a 300-mile point-to-point competition. It’s a challenging course presenting a mix of mountainous terrain and sand-washes, winding its way through century old towns and across stunning landscapes such as ghost town Delamar, historically rich Caliente, and the scenic Cathedral Gorge.
Piplic started 17th and was able to work his way up to 4th even after a few issues early in the race had set him back from the lead pack. He continued to push hard and when faced with a blown belt toward the end, Ryan was still able to come away with a great 8th place finish. That puts him starting 8th for the Vegas to Reno round in August, the longest off-road race in the United States at approximately 550 miles!
Next up in a couple weeks is another round of WORCS at Iron Mine Race Park in Cedar City UT, May 19-21.
