Why Lithium Batteries are Better than Lead-Acid

At Antigravity Batteries, we only sell lithium ion batteries. Lithium ion batteries have a lot of benefits to them that, as consumers, you may not know about. True it may cost you a little more to buy these batteries, but in the long run, you will be glad that you did.

Weight

Lithium ion batteries are about one-third lighter than their lead acid counterparts. This helps make your vehicle lighter and more efficient.

Efficiency

With a lithium ion battery, you will get 100% efficiency in both charge and discharge. With lead batteries, you lose about 15% and you don’t get the same amp hours in as you do out.

Discharge

Lead acid batteries discharge less than 80% where lithium ion batteries are discharged at 100%. This is a good thing!

Cycle Life

Batteries need to cycle in order for them to work. A lead acid battery will cycle about 400-500 time in their life while a lithium battery will cycle about 5000.

Voltage

Lithium ion batteries last longer than lead acid batteries because they maintain their voltage throughout their discharge cycle which is not the case with lead acid batteries.

Environmental Impact

One of the best reasons to switch to lithium ion batteries is that they are much cleaner and safer for the environment than their lead counterparts.

Cost

As we stated at the beginning of this blog, lithium batteries cost more upfront than lead acid batteries. But, as we have also said, they last longer. If you take that into account, you are paying less per year for the lithium batteries.
